Imagine a hidden gem sprawling over 65,000 hectares in the heart of the stunning Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in France. Welcome to Parc Naturel Régional du Pilat, a haven for enduro riders. Nestled between the vibrant cities of Lyon and Saint-Étienne, this park is your year-round playground. Towering above all stands le Crêt de la Perdrix at 1432m.
Parc Naturel Régional du Pilat promises an extraordinary mountain biking experience, so gear up and join me as I dive headfirst into the Pilat's captivating trails.
Pull up the Trailforks app, and a world of possibilities unfolds before your eyes. The singletracks here are more than just dirt. They have a unique flow to them. Release your brakes and let gravity work as you ride the loam, conquer gnarly roots, and smash through rocks. The occasional jump adds a dash of adrenaline here and there.
For those new to this mountain biking paradise, let me point you in the right direction: begin exploring le col de l'Oeillon. From there, start your adventure guided by your favourite GPS app coupled with Trailforks. A trail that beckons riders like a siren's call is "Magic," boasting a vertical drop of around 400 meters. True to its name, it casts an enchanting spell, inviting you to flow with the trail's rhythm and conquer every rock and root in your path. While some jumps might benefit from a touch-up, the overall experience is a must-ride.
As you carve through these extraordinary trails, remember to share the space with fellow outdoor enthusiasts—many of these trails aren't officially marked, making them a hidden treasure cherished by those in the know. After a couple of rides, I have only grazed the surface of what is there, but it is enough for me to know that I will enjoy many more spectacular rides here.
So, whether you're a seasoned rider or a novice two wheeled adventurer ready to embrace the thrill of the unknown, Parc Naturel Régional du Pilat beckons.
Let's keep in touch! More exciting rides await. Can't wait to explore more and share.
